Thanks, that's very useful. Seems to cover what I need - and more. (Only problem is I was looking for something I can read on the train, you know, paper, that stuff you can scribble on :))

BTW, about the savelogs datefmt configuration parameter: I was looking at the online version of the man page at http://www.viaverio.com/support/virtual/web/logs/rotate/savelogs/docs/savelogs.html
That version does not mention datefmt - so no wonder I "missed" it. Now that I have it installed, the version that comes with 1.66 does mention it. Maybe the online man page is for an older version?

Off to get savelogs set up now...
