Abigail is correct: the vinstall uses the FreeBSD binary package
system for installations (which uses the same /var/db/pkg directory
for tracking installed software). I'm not sure what version the
binary package system is up to right now (it's always a little behind
the ports system), but a simple 'make deinstall && make reinstall'
from the /usr/ports/security/clamav directory ought to get you up to
date.
