Re[2]: [vps-mail] Mail Handling, VPS2 and Vinstalls
Greetings Abigail:
/usr/ports/mail/qmail is present; but you can easily build it from source.
I don't think Verio provides raw support for qmail. We've been using qmail
for a long time on our dedicated servers that I actually prefer it over
sendmail for the most part.
For us the VPS 2 does come so close to a dedicated that you barely know it
is not a dedicated.
We've been blessed with a server administration background; so the leap to
a VPS 2 wasn't too bad.
Plus, you still have iManager which can help a lot if you are the direct
user of it.
Thank you.

Thanks, I'm glad to hear that. Since my goal is to reduce my
overall workload and increase security in the long run (by
having all email routing centralized), I am a little bit
hesitant about the learning curve for VPS 2, and I don't
want to find that I am giving up some sort of functionality
that I have with the VPS1. I also thought that an advantage
with VPS2 would be that I can allocate server resources to
favor the sendmail & filtering processes, since I won't use
that site to serve up web pages. In any case, it seemed kind
of silly to order a new VPS1 at this point, although I have
no plans to make changes to the existing accounts.

I'll stick with sendmail. I won't argue with you about the
merits of qmail, but I'll have enough new to learn.
Does Verio provide a vinstall for qmail and support it?
