There's nothing special about INCLUDERC (they behave like C's
"#include" directive for all practical purposes, preserving any
variables you've defined, etc.). Just think of them as extensions of
your .procmailrc file.
It's been so long since I've seen anything ob the list that I feel compelled
to chime in just to say hi.
In addition to the excellent advice of our two colleagues, I also have a
huge spam problem (who doesn't) and use draconian procmail tricks to try
to arrange the borderline stuff. Since I get a phone call and the same
users have to be taught each time how to send the headers, I use a logging
system that does what Scott mentions. This is fairly handy because the log,
called YYYYMM.log is in the $HOME of the mail user. So when X calls and says
"notspam@xxxxxxxxxxxxxx says he mailed me" I grep the log of the month for
that name, and find something like "Too many CC's", "Suspicious Asian
chars", or "Flavor of the month: (Rolex)". It's easy to then correct the
filter.
On the other hand, if you talk to people who already know how to look at or
at least send you the headers, the formail solution is good. Did anyone
mention that formail forks a process (I think)?
