	Well I think I have an answer. I believe Godwin is correct, and
despite the greeting, Sendmail is ignoring /etc/hosts. Secondly I found
another testing method - I don't know if this means the ordb.org site's
instructions are flawed, or maybe just not detailed enough, but I got
different results. From shell, enter the ">" commands and Sendmail will
give responses:

#sendmail -bt -C /etc/mail/your_hostname.cf
[note: puts Sendmail in test mode; apparently you don't have to stop
sendmail first but I did restart_sendmail when done to be safe]

ADDRESS TEST MODE (ruleset 3 NOT automatically invoked)
Enter <ruleset> <address>

Basic_check_rela returns: $# error $@ 5 . 7 . 1 $: "550 E-mail from " 127 . 0 . 0 . 2 " rejected due to sending server misconfiguration - see http://www.ordb.org/faq/#why_rejected";

	I also found a reference that the FEATURE() lines have to be before
the MAILER(smtp) line, but I'm not positive that made a difference.
