Re: [vps-mail] Mailing list software round-up - suggestions needed

Hello Matt,

AlpineWeb is based in a resort community which has translated to many lodging establishment customers on Signature Standard Hosting plans using DaDa Mail. Their lists usually build up to 2,000 - 5,000+ subscribers which DaDa Mail handles easily. DaDa Mail is free as Judson mentioned, has lots of features and options and is updated on a regular basis.

Of course if runs even better on VPS accounts.

Cheers,
Uwe Schneider

I've got a client that's got a 3,000 user announce-only mailing list and either i'm doing something wrong or we haven't found the perfect solution yet.

We started on majordomo, and then went to Mailman. We stayed there for a while, then the client wanted to use HTML email and collect additional information about the user beyond name and email, so we went to PHPList.

PHPlist seems to be great, except that it keeps stopping in the middle of the mail run - i have to babysit it and make sure it really does send out all the messages. Once I manually stop the sending run and requeue it, it works fine for a while.

I talked to my client about ContstantContact, but he doesn't want to pay monthly fees. He's happy to pay a one-time fee, however - does anyone know of any one-time fee self-hosted mailing list software they'd recommend?

Thanks,
Matt
