You are at least two books behind. The Bat book 3rd edition (ISBN
1565928393, published 2003) documents version 8.12. The "Sendmail 8.13
Companion" (ISBN 0596008457, published September 2004) is an update to
the Bat book 3rd edition, which documents (you guessed it) changes in
sendmail 8.13.

In January of 2005 the author if the above (Brian Costales)
co-authored "sendmail Milters: A Guide for Fighting Spam," which tells
everything you everything you ever wanted to know about using and
writing sendmail milters.

Craig Hunt's "Sendmail Cookbook" (ISBN 0596004710, published December
2003) covers sendmail 8.12, as does Nick Christenson's "sendmail
Performance Tuning" (ISBN 0321115708, published December 2002.)

I'm probably missing a book or two. (Try going to Amazon.com and
searching on "sendmail")

Read above, and pick and choose. (All of the above are good reads.)

BTW, I *don't* recommend "Sendmail Theory and Practice" (ISBN
1555581277, published 1995). It doesn't mention macro configuration
files and is of no practical value in modern sendmail configuration.
