OK all you experts, I just know I'm missing something simple. In my
.mc I have:
FEATURE(`dnsbl', `relays.ordb.org', `"550 Email rejected due to sending server misconfiguration - see http://www.ordb.org/faq/\#why_rejected"')
I have rebuilt the .cf file and restarted sendmail. There is a whole
section added to the .cf for the above. According to...
http://www.ordb.org/faq/#usage_sendmail
...if I set up in /etc/hosts:
127.0.0.2 [reversed-ip].relays.ordb.org
Then Sendmail should refuse the connection right? If I do that and use pine
to send a message to a local user it is accepted. Okaaay, maybe it's not
connecting on 127.0.0.2 I say. So I added my PC's IP to /etc/hosts as:
[forward-ip] [reversed-ip].relays.ordb.org
and Sendmail happily greets an SMTP connection from my mail client:
250-example.com Hello 34.85.15.24.relays.ordb.org [24.15.85.34], pleased to
meet you
...and allows delivery to a local user without authentication. D'oh! What
did I miss?
Thanks,
