Scott, if you make a vinstall for 2.60, I think you should
retain the option for 2.54 or 2.55 -- and label the 2.60 as
a beta. (The SA people are treating it as final, but I think
there are still a lot of bugs).

It's possible that the mailing list is painting an unduly
harsh picture, because people tend to post only if they have
problems. So if a thousand people are using the release and
delighted with it, and 5 people are having problems, all the
list noise comes from those 5.

But my inclination would be to at least wait until the 2.60
release has been out a few weeks - the official release is
only a week old (9/22) - everything before that is deemed a
"release candidate".

They are already working on 2.70, so if 2.60 turns out to be
buggy, maybe the best idea would be to stick with 2.54, and
beta test with 2.70.
