Re: [vps-mail] VPS(1) - outgoing e-mail being limited

Best to cover the bases and try an alternate port. You have 5190 and
587 to choose from. If your client is ok with the command line, you can
ask him to telnet to port 25 on your machine and just read the header.
If the hello comes from your machine, its your problem. If it comes
from the local school machine, then hopefully the alternate ports work,
or you can get the admins to do what they said they did in the first
place.

An example:

 ~ $ telnet sendmail.org 25
Trying 209.246.26.22...
Connected to sendmail.org.
Escape character is '^]'.
220 services.sendmail.org ESMTP Sendmail 8.13.1.Beta1/8.13.1.Beta1; Fri,
9 Sep 2005 14:19:28 -0700 (PDT)
quit
221 2.0.0 services.sendmail.org closing connection

Notice that services.sendmail.org answered for sendmail.org. That's
basically what you are looking for. Your server will most likely answer
with your temp domain instead of your virtual hosts.
