[vps-mail] SA & permissions, again
- Subject: [vps-mail] SA & permissions, again

I've moved to a v2 server, and i'm trying to replicate my settings
from my VPS1 account, which had centrailized logging and centralized
saving of spam files, with one user excepted (more on that later)
According to:
http://www.perlcode.org/lists/vps-mail/msg00905.html
------------------------
So, just remove the DROPPRIVS if you really need to maintain a
centralized log file. The side effect will be that spamc will not be
reading the individual user preferences. If you have to read
individual user preferences, keep the DROPPRIVS but remove the
LOGFILE lines that refer to root-owned (and only user writable) files
(e.g., /var/log/procmail.log). If you want logging, replace them with
something like:
LOGFILE=$HOME/.procmail.log
------------------------
On this server, its my personal domain and one other (relative-owned)
business that I host, so centralized preferences isn't a problem, but
centralized saving of spam is not working.
Questions:
1)I'm using |/usr/local/bin/spamassassin instead of spamc - does that
have any effect in this case?
2)I have one client (lliman@[multipledomans].com) that doesn't want
to use the central filters, so i his address whitelisted in
procmailrc after the clamav but before the SA block. This works
fine, as spam for this user continues on until being run thru his
personal rulesets.
But then we run into problems with our previous setup: Previous set
up was to have ham delivered as normal, and spam delivered to a
separate mail file in /var/mail so he could download it via POP -
call it llimanspam. However, since procmail is running as the user,
it couldnt' write to llimanspam, and also couldn't create a lock file
in /var/mail
Do I want to dropprivs on this users $HOME/.procmailrc file as well
for this to work, or is my setup not feasable?
PS, scott - I know Rus' weakness is for Red Licorice - any personal
candy vice we can tempt you with as a 'thank you'?
Thank you,
Matt
