I recently had the same problem, and asked the list about it on March 24.
Abigail's answer is good. Here is Sikaspam's reply to me on March 24. (I
turned off the naive bayes filtering.)

where you will find, among other gems of wisdom
use_bayes ( 0 | 1 ) (default: 1)
Whether to use the naive-Bayesian-style classifier built into SpamAssassin.
