My own POV on this is that non-member postings should not be allowed.
Depending on the software used, it is also possible to have non-member
postings deleted silently - this can be done with, for example, Ecartis
which runs on my server.

As for multiple identities posting, subscribe all of them to the list but
only have one of them set to receive mail.

Thirdly, don't strip tracing information from incoming mail. That way, even
if spam *does* make it to the list, your server won't be the source of it as
far as SpamCop is concerned and therefore won't end up getting blacklisted.
Members' privacy is pretty much irrelevent in that we have to subscribe with
a valid e-mail address anyway.

You can't block a port with software that runs on the same machine where the
