[vps-mail] OT: PHP WARNING: unexpected input character at ...

I know this is ot, but someone here may well have an answer. I
associated these unexpected character errors with a prior version of
PHP, people said it was a known error, etc, but they have started
showing up now in 4.3.10 all of a sudden. They seem to happen at
particular times and often when one is uploading files. However, I
also saw them happen yesterday on a page that hasn't changed in years
and has no mysql.

Googling for info about this often brings up pages that have the error
rather than ones that talk about it. I still have not found any
definitive answer about this.

Does anyone have any experiences (and solutions) to share about this?
