Wilson,
I have a VPS2 Pro, er, VPS2 2000, dedicated to running Mailman. It's
been up since September 27 and has averaged 37,319 outgoing messages and
913 MB per day.
We filter all incoming messages through SpamAssassin and Clam-AV. Since
no messages originate on the machine (no one uses the machine as their
outgoing mail server), we don't filter outgoing messages. This saves
*very* significantly on the load. If you can possibly do it, I encourage
you to adopt the same settings.
Load average on the box is insignificant. It jumps only when we preen
the archives or run other batch processes which involve pulling the
subscriber lists from all 450+ mailing lists.
Cheers,
-- Art Z.
