Re: [vps-mail] Couldn't determine implicit lockfile

The original poster (sorry, don't remember who it was) followed up with a correction to a typographical error in the recipe. I believe the erroneous last line:
:/usr/sbin/sendmail
is supposed to start with a pipe instead of a colon:
|/usr/sbin/sendmail

Sorry, I missed that follow-up mail

That's probably the correction you needed. I'm pretty sure the change you made (removing the colon after the zero) is not what you wanted.

Well, it seems to DO what I wanted, which is a result to me.
What "damage" would removing the colon do?

Solved

This caused problems:-

:0:sendmail.lock
* ... conditions here
:/usr/sbin/sendmail

Like this...

procmail: Skipped "/usr/sbin/sendmail"
procmail: Skipped "H:sendmail.lock"

I had...

:0:
* conditions
!nouser

I removed the ":" after :0 and it now works fine.

Thanks for the suggestions

Andy

You can specifically name a lock file on the :0 line. Normally,
procmail guesses, but if it can't figure it out, you need to tell it by
adding a lock file with :lockfile.

Ex:

:0:sendmail.lock
* ... conditions here
:/usr/sbin/sendmail

That should get rid of any warnings.

So I should start every recipe with :0:sendmail.lock and end it with :/usr/sbin/sendmail
I'll try it

Thanks
Andy

P.S. The man procmailrc entry snippet:

       A line starting with ':' marks the beginning of a recipe.
       It has the following format:

              :0 [flags] [ : [locallockfile] ]
              <zero or more conditions (one per line)>
              <exactly one action line>
