Not that this is on topic, but gmail shows "targeted ads" in text
format on the right column. I'm virulently anti-spam but I have no
problem ignoring the ads. Obviously, if you are stealing State secrets
or something, a gmail account probably wouldn't be appropriate. This
said, I'm sure it's software reading the mail.
Having mailing lists sent to gmail is a blessing for searching,
sorting and archiving. Ironically, a link just above where I'm writing
this says "invite John to gmail" ! :)
