Friends,
It looks like the FreeBSD folks have finally updated their package
system. This means that you can use the pre-built ClamAV for your VPS
v2 (or any FreeBSD dedicated server).
If you've never installed clamav on your VPS v2, run 'vinstall clamav'
first from your shell prompt, then do the following.
1) You should update your 'unrar' package first, if you haven't already
done so:
# wget ftp://ftp.freebsd.org/pub/FreeBSD/ports/packages/All/unrar-3.30_1,3.tgz
# pkg_update unrar-3.30_1,3.tgz
2) Then update your clamav installation:
# wget ftp://ftp.freebsd.org/pub/FreeBSD/ports/packages/All/clamav-0.70_1.tgz
# pkg_update clamav-0.70_1.tgz
That's all. You might see the following messages:
Updating clamav packages to version 0.70_1
To delete clamav user permanently, use 'pw userdel "clamav"'
this is ok. Updating to 0.70_1 (for FreeBSD packages) will get rid of
the:
WARNING: Your ClamAV installation is OUTDATED - please update immediately !
WARNING: Current functionality level = 1, required = 2
error messages. If you've already updated via 'ports' (instead of
'packages') you should be fine and don't need to worry about these
instructions.
