Alright me hearties,
It looks like the latest incarnation works fine. According to my
personal testing buddy: "worked like a champ."
So, do this (for those of you who asked for it on your server):
vinstall spamassassin-2.63
This will unpack a new spamassassin (assuming you answer "yes" to
overwriting) and *attempt to launch spamd*. If you already have spamd
running that's ok as long as it has a pid file at ~/var/run/spamd.pid.
If this file (~/var/run/spamd.pid) does not exist on your server, kill
spamd before running the upgrade vinstall.
The vinstall will then make an entry in ~/etc/rc (unless you already
have one there) so it will restart if the physical server ever
reboots.
You will then be asked what to do with your existing configurations.
Choose 'U' for update so that spamc will be launched with incoming
mail instead of /usr/local/bin/spamassassin.
If anyone has questions, please contact me on- or off-list.
Scott
