So far, I can see that SA is a little bigger, but not much bigger. I
may move to an officially supported spamd for VPS v1 if things are bad
enough.

This is also something I'll be looking at during my tests. While the
Berkeley DB is old, it (1.95) was the last widely supported version
and is still robust for most uses. It is the format that sendmail and
FreeBSD use natively for simple hash lookups from a file (access.db,
pwd.db, etc.). You _can_ compile newer versions, but this often
creates more problems than it solves (in our experience, at least),
because it's such an integral part of many existing systems. However,
if I can't get SA to work with the old DB format, I'll supply a
Berkeley DB update as part of the upgrade.
