I've had the same thing happen on 2 different VPS2's previously.  Something 
goes completely berserk and chews up file space at a prodigious rate.  Ine 
one case, 5 gig of server space got taken up by this in about an hour.

I stopped the race by shutting mysql down, then nuking everything in 
/tmp.  It seemed to come back to normal after that.  I don't know if it was 
MySQL, Procmail, SPamAssassin, or what though.
