This one is for Scott or Russ or any VERIO guru :)
CPX "bug" (not really bug, but thing to watch for),
i have not reproducted this but i had issue with cpx.conf being munched
badly on a customer. After investigation i found that httpd.conf has
windows EOL instaead of unix ones. Since i corrected this it seems
strange things stopped and all is back to normal.
If some fool edit the httpd.conf (to add a serveralias for exemple)
and do it with notepad it change the EOL char in a non unix one.
Cpx parser seems sensitive to that and fail to parse it munching the
cpx.conf in a complete mess :)
Scott, can you forward a little request to the dev team so this kind of
troubles are detected by the cpx parser and that:
1/ it gives an error (parse error windows EOL in http.conf for exemple
2/ correct it (or not)
or
1/ automaticaly convert the EOL to unix and reparse the file
as i think this is bound to happen. I will try to reproduce things to
have a cleaner line on this potential trouble. For now i just have the
numerous strange things and the customer words : "i just enabled file
manager for a user and then CRASHHH" !
best regards,
Ghislain.
ps: i am not sure of the "munch" word, as a non native speaker i mean by
that "make it wrong" or "screw it" ;p
